Privacy Policy

1. Data We Collect

• Account information (via Apple Sign In or Google Sign In)
• Invite and ring-binding metadata when you optionally link a second ring to another account
• Ring binding metadata, including a hashed NFC ring identifier. We do not store raw NFC UIDs in plaintext.
• Memories you create (text, photos, videos, audio) — stored primarily on your device
• Technical data (device type, app version, usage statistics)

2. Data Storage

• Free plan: memories stay on your device only, in encrypted local storage (IndexedDB).
• Seal with Ring: while you complete a seal, an encrypted copy of your draft may be held on our servers for up to 10 minutes, then deleted automatically after the ring confirms or if the seal is cancelled.
• Haven Plus: optional end-to-end encrypted cloud backup (50 GB cap per account) and explicit sharing when you choose.
• Each person uses their own Apple or Google account. Shared memories are never automatic — only when you explicitly share with Plus.
• We cannot access your memory content where client-side encryption applies.
• Free plan includes about 2 GB of local storage. Plus includes expanded storage and optional cloud capacity where offered.
• Cloud features may be limited or in beta while full E2EE sync rolls out.

3. Data Retention

• Sealed memories remain on your devices until you delete them.
• If you cancel Haven Plus, cloud copies remain available to download for 30 days, then are deleted automatically. Local copies on your device are not removed by cancellation alone.
• When you delete your account, local and cloud data are typically removed within 30 days.
• Retiring a ring credential stops that ring from sealing or accessing Haven, but does not transfer the ring to another account.

4. Your Rights

• You can export all your data at any time.
• You can delete individual memories or your entire account.
• You can retire ring access. Retired rings are not reassigned to another Haven.
• You can stop cloud sync and delete cloud data.
• If you have explicitly shared memories with someone, privacy requests may affect copies according to product rules and applicable law.

5. Sharing & Invites

Sharing a memory requires Haven Plus and your explicit action. A second ring requires an invite accepted on a separate account. Never share Apple or Google logins.

6. Important Disclaimer

We make best efforts to protect your data, but no cloud or device service can promise perfect availability. We strongly recommend maintaining your own local backups. We are not liable for data loss caused by device failure, user error, or other factors outside our direct control.

7. Children

Haven is not intended for users under 13 years old.
